SEA MONSTRE 22

Hey! It's almost 2008, which means that the first issue of SEA MONSTRE will be coming out sometime soon. The deadline for submissions was a few weeks ago, so I've since been putting all the artwork together as it will appear when printed.

Not much else to say. I'm hoping for a February release, but you know how these things work... could be earlier, could be later.

Happy Holidays everyone.

SEA MONSTRE 21

One final thank you to all the artists who contributed to Sea Monstre. Submissions are essentially over at this point, with just a few still trickling in.

Myself and a few other fellow Cornish students are going to get cracking on putting all the artwork together and getting it printed. I'm very excited to have a final product!

We were linked on Brooklyn Vegan yesterday which is a very cool site.

Cornish has also granted our publication some money to help with printing and production, so things are going well!

SEA MONSTRE 12

Martin Ernstsen has contributed a great sea monster. His artwork is great and I definitely recommend that everyone check out his work.

As more and more submissions come in, I am going to keep some a mystery, so here is a sample of his monster.

SEA MONSTRE 11

There are a lot of submissions on the way thanks to the Pitchfork article and fellow students at Cornish. I've seen lots of great stuff in progress and I can't wait to see the finished results.

I'm meeting with a funding board on Friday with a proposal to obtain money to help with supplies and printing. Hopefully everything goes well with that so that we will have enough money to print copies to distribute on the Internet.

SEA MONSTRE 10

The wonderful folks over at Pitchfork were kind enough to write a story about our little project.

A link to the article.

A huge thanks to Pitchfork for everything!

SEA MONSTRE 9

As reported earlier, three of the members of Sunset Rubdown have contributed their very own sea monsters.

The first is by front-man, Spencer Krug, the second by Michael Doerksen and the third by Jordan Robson-Cramer. It was a great experience to meet the band and the monsters they came up with are all great.

SEA MONSTRE 8

I met my favorite band, Sunset Rubdown, earlier this week and three of the four members of the band drew sea monsters for us. I don't have access to a scanner during the weekend, but I will put the drawings up as soon as possible.

At this point in the project, I am going to begin to tone down on the updates. I'd like for there to still be some surprise when the book actually comes out. This doesn't mean I am done taking contributions, I'd still love many many more! Once again, if you would like to contribute, my email address is trevorbasset@gmail.com.

SEA MONSTRE 5

Last night I had the privilege of meeting two of my favorite musicians, Rollie Pemberton (Cadence Weapon) and Owen Pallett (Final Fantasy). Both of them were kind enough to contribute their very own sea monsters to our little publication.

A big thanks to Owen and Rollie for participating. It is nice to see what sort of art a variety of people can come up with, whether those people are actors, musicians, designers, artists, et cetera.
